Blue Dragon Plus (DS) Review Roundup
Legacy of Y's: Books I and II (DS) Review Roundup Legacy of Y's is a tricky game to discuss. Originally launched way back in 1987 on the TurboGrafx-16, a console that relatively few people owned, it may not be immediately clear that this is a remake. That being said, Y's enjoys a hardcore following from a devoted fanbase that may be clamoring to play the game with a fresh coat of paint. Another interesting note for this release: Y's is, to our knowledge, the first remake of a game that already exists on the Virtual Console in it's original form. It should be telling to see if people will spring for the newly updated version, or buy the original for a much cheaper entry fee.
Not enough RPG for you? We've recently compiled review roundups for Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and Dragon Quest 5 as well.
..and it's looking a lot less "classic" to us. As you can see below, Nintendo has introduced a new version of the classic controller which adds some grips and a "2 layer" shoulder button layout, much like the Sony Dualshock controller. ![]() While we certainly understand where Nintendo is coming from- they would like to promote this controller as a standard for less motion-oriented games- we sort of balk at the idea of it being called a "classic controller". Don't get us wrong.. we don't particularly have anything against it, and we're sure it will work great for newer Wii games designed with it in mind.. it's just not a controller we'd wanna sit down to play SNES games with. In our mind, the retro feel is completely part of the experience of playing these games. C'mon Nintendo,.. less of this and more products like the Club Nintendo SNES remake controller. Heck, we even like the Nyko Wing(if for nothing other than their print ads) and the appropriately named Datel Retro Controller with it's Famicom-esque looks..
Capcom just released this nifty little video showing off some of the motion controls in Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Think you can handle it? Check out the video below.

While it isn't clear if any of their stuff will ever make it stateside, we're really interested to see what ..continue reading Mobile developer Dynamo Games gets approval for Wii and DS projects
This is some week we have for new releases! On the Wii, we'll finally be getting a chance to do some mass zombie killing in Dead Rising. Initial looks at this game haven't been very promising, but we're hoping Capcom managed to put out a product thats "different but equally as good", and we'll know ..continue reading New Nintendo Game Tuesday for 2/24/2009
Today marks the launch of Commodore 64 games on the Virtual Console in the US. Though these have been available elsewhere for months, it's only now that we Americans get a chance to sink our teeth into them. Each of the C64 titles is priced at 500 points($5).
While it's been rumored as such for a while, Nintendo has now confirmed an early April US release for it's new handheld, the Nintendo DSi.
If you're a Wii gamer this week, we're sorry to say but you're out of luck for any big releases. After last week, though, it shouldn't be much of an issue for you since you're probably still catching up on Overkill and Onechanbara. |

A few years back, the original Blue Dragon launched as one of the first "next-gen", HD role playing games on the Xbox-360. A product of Final Fantasy alums, the game launched to lower than expected reviews, though it eventually received somewhat of a cult following.
