Nintendo responds to "Super Chick Sisters"
Posted 8/24/2007 at 11:21:42 AM

After discovering the "Super Chick Sisters" game on PETA's website a few days ago, we contacted Nintendo for their thoughts on it. Today, we've received a response, and though it doesn't go into detail.. it seems that Nintendo is at least looking into the matter.

Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,

At this time, Nintendo is not affiliated with PETA. I will be sure to pass along your report to our Legal Department for further review. We appreciate your bringing this issue to our attention.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

If for some reason you were a big fan of that game, you may want to save the swf to your hard drive,.. it may just disappear before you know it.

PETA Uses Nintendo Characters to Brainwash Kids
Posted 8/20/2007 at 12:39:25 AM

PETA,.. the people for the ethical treatment of animals, has released a new propaganda tool, in the form of "Super Chick Sisters".

The game has you navigating a chicken through a Sonic The Hedgehog-esque checkered floor world by jumping on enemies, smashing blocks and collecting powerups.

Ok, so the game is a blatant ripoff of Super Mario Brothers.. but what shocked,.. SHOCKED me was that PETA went as far as to include Mario, Luigi, and Toad in the game. Not "close likenesses" of them, but pretty damn near exact copies, with their real names. The game also portrays the Wii as a dangerous item, as Mario and Luigi are unable to participate in the game after being injured by playing it.

I can only imagine that Nintendo had NOTHING to do with this game, and I'd be interested to know how they feel about their world-renowned characters being used as spokespeople for an organization whose mission is not only polarizing to the world's population, but at times downright criminal in it's actions(sort of like swiping intellectual property to put into your flash game, assault, indecent exposure, or dumping the bodies of dead animals into a dumpster). I imagine this is NOT the type of organization that Nintendo would like it's characters associated with.

I refuse to link to PETA, so the source link goes to a delicious steak.
