We're not sure what Nintendo's deal is, but they haven't been very quick to release their Wii/DSi shop info each Monday for the past few weeks.

Rather than waiting until tomorrow to bring you the releases, we went out in search and thanks to Destructoid, we have this week's releases for you.

WiiWare Releases for 8/31/2009

For those of you not familiar, each day Amazon has what they call a gold box sale. One item is sold at a super cheap price all day(or until it sells out) while 5-6 more items are discounted for 2-3 hour windows throughout the day. Usually these sales are themed, and today's theme is video games!

Surely not every deal will be for a Wii game, but looking at the clues, we see that no fewer than 3 of them are. In addition, it looks like the hourly deals are probably all sports games. (The daily deal is Sims 3 for 30 bucks- not bad if you're into that!)

The clues, in order are(times listed are EST):

As Nintendo fans, the Metroid series is something we should all be very familiar with. Many of us have been there from the 2-d beginnings, while others have jumped in more recently for the 3-d Prime series.

Regardless of which type of Metroid fan you are, the Prime Trilogy is something you're definitely going to want in your collection. Let's face it: there isn't much new here- Wii controls and some achievements, but all three of these games have already garnered critical acclaim on their initial releases, and Nintendo is sweetening the pot here with slick metal packaging and lots of nice artwork.

Even better, this all comes at the price of 1 standard Wii game. This should be a no brainer.. but if you want more opinions, read on below:

As you can see, today's download update is coming far later than usual. We can only assume that the guy at NOA who's responsible for letting us know what's coming is on vacation, because this is the second week in a row we have no word from them.

Basically we've got Super Empire Strikes Back (SNES, 800 Points), Mr Driller W(WiiWare, 800 Points), and Pop+ Solo(DSiWare, 500 Points)

Kind of a slow week, but we can never complain about Star Wars games.
