Nintendo is not Apple. Nintendo does not lobotomize their products by prematurely releasing new ones. The DS is selling like crazy, and that trend will continue to hold true well through Christmas. This is the most profitable time of the year for electronics and would be a terrible time to announce a new product unless it was already sitting in stockrooms ready to hit shelves. If that were the case, we'd have photos or ads leaked from one of the retail giants by now. When it comes to hardware comparisons, there's no doubt that the DS is 2nd in line behind the much superior and more powerful PSP. So why then, is the DS selling so much better? Software of course. Content is king, and the DS has droves of it. As long as publishers keep releasing games that people are interested in, the DS will continue to thrive. Just this holiday season alone, we're expecting well over 100 new titles to be released for the platform, appealing to a wide range of gamers. We touched on this one above, but no company would be dumb enough to announce a new product this close to the holiday season. There's no way that supply could be met, and sales of the previous device would suffer. Before Nintendo bothers to release a new DS, they will undoubtedly drop the price of the DS Lite.. perhaps more than once. When sales slow down at $99, it may be time for a refresh, but probably not before then. So while we probably won't be seeing a new DS this week(and don't get us wrong, we'd love to be off base on this one.. the rumored features sound great!), we're sure that Nintendo has something up it's sleeve. Considering the recent rush of quality WiiWare titles and the growth of DLC in titles like Samba de Amigo, Rock Band 2, and Guitar Hero World Tour, we're putting our chips on a Wii storage solution announcement,.. and we'd be surprised if that is even hardware at this point.
Just a quick note to let you guys know we tweaked a few items on the site today..
Just as quickly as we saw the fall rush heating up, it's subsided once again, relieving our wallets for at least another week. DS

In probably the most ironic "gaming murder" ever, an unnamed 21 year old German has been arrested for the stabbing death of a 20 year old UK man that helped him run a message board for Advance Wars.

Over the past few days, the internet has run rampant with rumors that Nintendo will announce a new Nintendo DS on Thursday, October 2nd at a scheduled press conference. While it's true that this press conference is going to happen, we strongly believe that there will NOT be a new DS announced, and here's why.
Just when we thought that Capcom had given up on making another real Mega Man game, or anything even remotely close to it, they've gone and done this. Mega Man 9 not only revives the classic gameplay style of yester-year, but does so while retaining 8-bit tunes, graphics, and limitations.
File this one under "whudathunkit?".
There's no denying that Sonic was, at one point in time, one of the most loved video game characters on the planet. His games were extremely enjoyable in the 16-bit era, but as time marched on the Sonic Team at SEGA seem
