Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Wii) Review Roundup
Posted 12/24/2009 at 11:00:28 AM

When it comes to the Wii, Capcom has been one of the major contributors, both in porting their classics like Okami and Resident Evil 4, as well as experimenting with different genre's to see what works.

One genre that has seemed to work spectacularly for them has been the on-rails shooter. As a follow up to their previous installment: RE: Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles continues with similiar gameplay while at the same time expanding on the first title's immersion, scope, and depth.

Read the reviews below to see what game reviewers across the 'net thought about it:

Tony Hawk RIDE (Wii) Review Roundup
Posted 12/23/2009 at 1:00:07 PM

Up until the release of the revolutionary Skate series from EA, the Tony Hawk series was the undisputed king of skateboard games with nothing to prove.

Unfortunately, the immersion and realism exhibited by Skate changed that for many of us, and Activision decided that they needed to take TH in a new direction in order to be competitive.

That direction came in the form of this generation's "big thing": motion controls. The entire game is played atop a plastic skateboard laden with sensors in a move that Activision hopes will trump Skate's realism.

Have they succeeded? If the reviews below are any indication, sadly no.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Review Roundup
Posted 11/17/2009 at 1:40:34 PM

New Super Mario Bros Wii was released 2 days ago, so we're guessing you're already at home playing it. If for some reason you haven't brought yourself to pick it up yet, you may want to read on and see what critics around the net had to say about it.

We're in the midst of running through it ourselves and so far we're leaning very favorably on it. It's everything we expected based on the content of NSMBDS and so much more. The design of the levels is brilliant as you'll constantly notice subtle features carefully crafted by Nintendo to cause panic and chaos among you and your co-op buddies, and the game shines because of it.

Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS) Review Roundup
Posted 10/14/2009 at 12:00:00 PM

We may be in the minority over here, but we find the Mario RPG titles incredibly hard to follow. The series started off very strongly with the incredibly literally titled Super Mario RPG back on the SNES, but ever since then it seems that Nintendo has struggled to find the series' identity. Home consoles eventually settled with the Paper Mario series, whereas the portables went Mario and Luigi.

We're not saying that they aren't good games.. just that Nintendo's flip flopping has deterred us from trying a few of them. Most recently, we enjoyed Super Paper Mario but found it a little flimsy towards the end. Looking over the reviews for the latest Mario and Luigi, however, has us thinking differently. The industry seems to universally love what Nintendo has done and seems to appreciate the unique approach they took in literally making Bowser's body the game world.

We'll be picking this one up with due haste. Read on for the reviews!

Dead Space: Extraction (Wii) Review Roundup
Posted 10/14/2009 at 8:17:38 AM

We're not sure why, but on-rails shooters seem to be more popular on the Wii than any other console in history. Generally we don't get too excited about them unless there's some terrible dialog to enjoy ala House of the Dead 2, but there's no denying that the Wii's IR controls do a good job mim ..continue reading Dead Space: Extraction (Wii) Review Roundup
